George E. Abel

George E. Abel, a long-time resident of Lower Makefield Township, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017. He was 62.

Born in Trenton, N.J., George was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Rider University. He was a third-generation owner of E. J. Koenig, Inc. of Bordentown, and later an account manager at Hough Petroleum in Ewing for the past 17 years.

George was an avid participant in organized athletics throughout his life. During his school years, he was a pitcher in baseball and a talented soccer player.

 He continued his participation in sports for the past 25 years by becoming a referee in soccer and lacrosse for NJSIAA and NJILOA sanctioned games and was named ‘Referee of the Year.’ He also coached youth soccer.

George also found time for varied other interests such as competitive golf, model railroads, restoration of classic cars, classic rock, the beach, and his beloved dog, Myles, while being sure to devote his generosity, humor, and love to his family.

Son of the late George Charles Abel and Helen Koenig Abel, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lisa Pannucci Abel; his children and their spouses, George Michael and Kimberly Elizabeth Abel of Bordentown, N.J., Adrienne Rose and Anthony LaBella of Lower Makefield, and Travis Joseph and Francine Marie Abel of Chalfont, Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn K. and Gerald Stoy, and Mary Beth Warren, all of Ewing, N.J.; six grandchildren, Gianna Elizabeth and Anthony Michael LaBella, Stella Elizabeth and Scarlett Grace Abel, and Vincent Angelo and Austin George Abel; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Ave. (River Road), Yardley. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville.
