5281f1b96f28e.preview-300-1Elizabeth M. ‘Betty’ Hertkorn of Lower Makefield Township died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She was 67.

Born in Philadelphia, daughter of Elizabeth Keis Toman and the late Arthur Toman, she resided in Lower Makefield for the past 35 years.

Mrs. Hertkorn was pre-school teacher at the Crossing Cooperative Nursery School in Washington Crossing for 22 years. She was graduated from Nazareth Academy in Philadelphia.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lower Makefield; She served as a eucharist minister and was involved with Marriage Prep programs. Betty was also a volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Isabella Martin.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Donald R. Hertkorn; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Jean and Scott Martin of Jackson, N.J.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Michelle Hertkorn of Lower Makefield and Michael and Rachel Hertkorn of Feasterville; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Stacey Toman of Morrisville; cousin and best friend, Anne McMullin; and nine grandchildren, Sean, Bryan, Emily, Ashley, Amanda and Kaylee Martin, Kaya and Madison Hertkorn, and Michael Hertkorn Jr.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Lower Makefield. Family and friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA.
