SJE Jr. CYO Welcome Letter, Event Rules & Dress Code, Enrollment Form, Events Schedule
Dear Parents of 6th, 7th and 8th graders:
We are all very excited about the start of a new school year, and we are looking forward to a wonderful Junior CYO year with your children!
Junior CYO provides an opportunity for the children in 6th through 8th grades to participate in many activities, enabling them to grow through service and spiritual opportunities, as well as providing them with cultural and social events.
Please Note: Participation in CYO sports does not make you a member of SJE Junior CYO. To join SJE Junior CYO for the 2010/2011 school year, please complete and return the attached two pages (the enrollment form AND the Activity Sign-up Sheet) plus a $15.00 membership fee (checks made payable to “St. John the Evangelist Jr. CYO”). For your reference throughout the year, a copy of the Activity Sign-Up Sheet will be posted on our Parish website.

We are looking forward to the many events we have planned for this year. Our first members-only event will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010. We will be celebrating 5:30 p.m. Mass together as a group, followed by our annual pizza party and “Name that Tune” in the Parish Center.
As with many other programs involving our children, we rely on parent assistance to enable us to provide a safe and enjoyable environment. Archdiocesan and Parish rules mandate a minimum number of chaperones be present at youth ministry events and the chaperone’s Safe Environment paperwork must be up to date. As such, chaperone coordination will be done separately for each event this year. To assist in obtaining chaperones for the dances, we would like to request each grade level sponsor one of the three dances. We will start with 8th grade parents for the first dance, then 7th grade parents for the second dance, then 6th grade parents for the third dance - with the intention of providing time for new Junior CYO parents to obtain the required training / clearance. Please note that, in the event we do not have a sufficient number of chaperones for an event 24 hours prior, that event will be cancelled with notification sent via email.
If there are any special ideas you may have, please share them with us, through our e-mail, or at the board meetings. Fresh ideas and new faces are always welcome to help us make this a memorable year for our children.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may have been inadvertently omitted from this distribution list – all 6th, 7th and 8th graders in the Parish are welcome!
