Principal
Welcome to St. John the Evangelist School online! As the school’s Principal I would like to briefly introduce myself. Before going further, however, I would like to share with you a quote from an anonymous author:
“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
I truly want you to know how much I care about each and every child’s spiritual, academic and social development. Please visit me in person; my door is always open!
Some years ago a dear friend of mine and mentor, Sister Elizabeth J. McCoy, acj, encouraged me to expand my training as a teacher and she recommended her alma mater, Cabrini College. At Cabrini I received a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration and became a Pennsylvania State Certified School Principal. After a number of years teaching in Catholic schools I experienced several years in the public school systems in Bucks and Montgomery Counties as a gifted education teacher, an instructional supervisor for teachers and a public school principal.
I will always be grateful for my public school opportunities. They, however, did not fulfill daily spiritual needs that were so abundantly satisfying within my faith-filled educational experiences. My three sons attended a Catholic elementary school and are graduates of LaSalle College High School. While involved in their Christ-centered educational communities, I was offered the opportunity to serve as Principal at a Pre-K to Grade 8 parish school and completed the two-year Principal Leadership Program conducted by the Office of Catholic Education with Philadelphia Archdiocese. It was a valuable program that provided tremendous opportunities to fully understand the responsibilities and expectations of today’s Catholic School Principals.
On a personal note, my husband and I live in Bucks County, are members of St. Jude Catholic Church and love spending time with our sons as much as possible. Our oldest son, Larry, graduated from Duquesne University and is a CPA at Marcum LLP in Bala Cynwyd. Patrick is a Drexel University graduate working as an architectural/civil engineer for the federal government in Philadelphia. Patrick is also a board member and service volunteer for the Catholic youth organization, The Blessed Sarnelli Community. Sarnelli volunteers support the homeless in Kensington and travels to St. Lucia for missionary work, renovating homes and chapels for those in need. Our youngest son, Richard, will be graduating from Loyola College this spring with a BS in Bio-Psychology and is pursuing graduate work in clinical psychology. And, finally, we are a family devoted to rescuing racing greys; Lucy and Angie are our fifth and sixth greyhound rescues and they make life very entertaining!
It is with joy and enthusiasm that I work with St. John the Evangelist Parish in its commitment to Catholic education! As Principal, I am able to share my many experiences, my knowledge and my passion for providing the very best spiritual and academic education for children. Required, without a doubt, is the work of an entire educational community to provide tomorrow’s adults with a strong faith-filled foundation, which in today’s world, is greatly needed.
Many blessings,
Sheree Montgomery
