Letter From The Principals Desk

Dear Parishioners of SJE,

Welcome to our Principal’s Page at St. John the Evangelist School!  As the school’s new Principal I would like to briefly introduce myself. Before going further, however, I would like to share with you a quote from an anonymous author:

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

I truly want you to know “how much I care” about each and every child’s spiritual, academic and social development.  Please come and visit me in person; my door is always open!

Some years ago a dear friend of mine and mentor, Sister Elizabeth J. McCoy, acj, encouraged me to expand my training as a teacher and she recommended her alma mater, Cabrini College.  At Cabrini I received a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration and became a Pennsylvania State Certified School Principal.  After a number of years teaching in Catholic schools I experienced several years in the public school systems in Bucks and Montgomery Counties as a gifted education teacher, an instructional supervisor for teachers and a public school principal.

I will always be grateful for my public school opportunities.  They, however, did not fulfill daily spiritual needs that were so abundantly satisfying within my faith-filled educational experiences.  My three sons attended a Catholic elementary school and are graduates of LaSalle College High School.  While involved in their Christ-centered educational communities, I was offered the opportunity to serve as Principal at a Pre-K to Grade 8 parish school.  I participated in the year long Principal Leadership Program conducted by the Office of Catholic Education with the Philadelphia Archdiocese.  It was a valuable program that provided tremendous opportunities to fully understand the responsibilities and expectations of today’s Catholic School Principals.

On a personal note, my husband and I live in Bucks County and love spending time with our sons as much as possible.  We enjoy the company of two spirited greyhounds, Sonic and Lucy.  Our oldest son, Larry, graduated three years ago from Duquesne University and is currently a CPA with Margolis & Company in Bala Cynwyd. Patrick is in his senior year at Drexel University studying Architectural and Civil Engineering.  He is a volunteer board member and service volunteer for the Catholic youth organization, The Blessed Sarnelli Community, which supports the homeless in Kensington.  Patrick has recently returned from a missionary trip in St. Lucia where his team renovated three homes and a chapel for those in need during the week long experience.  Our youngest son, Richard, will begin his junior year at Loyola College in Maryland as a Bio-Psychology major and will be studying abroad this fall in Copenhagen, Denmark; we might need to change our cell phone plan!

It is with joy and enthusiasm that I join St. John the Evangelist Parish in its commitment to Catholic education!  As your Principal, you have offered me the opportunity to share my many experiences, my knowledge and my passion for providing the very best spiritual and academic education for your children.  Without a doubt, we must work together to provide tomorrow’s adults with a strong faith-filled foundation, which in today’s world, is greatly needed.

Many blessings,

Sheree Montgomery, Principal
