Dominic Schodowski

Dominic J. Schodowski of Morrisville passed away peacefully at Attleboro Nursing and Rehab Center in Langhorne, Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. He was 96.

He was the beloved husband for 73 years to the late Helen Blackford Schodowski.

Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Victoria Schodowski. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Schodowski and his wife, Louise; his sisters, Helen and Olga; and his daughter, Mary McGuire.

Dominic was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II on a repair ship stationed in the Pacific Theater near the Philippines. He had a long career as a coppersmith/pipefitter working at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard in New York and the Naval Air Propulsion Center in Trenton, N.J. He was a do-it-yourself guy around the house, always fixing and building things. He did all maintenance and most repairs on his cars and those of family members. He enjoyed working with his hands and was very meticulous in his work. Dominic will be greatly missed, but will forever be loved by everyone who has had the pleasure to have been loved by him.

Dominic is survived by his children, Diane Maurizio and her husband, James, William Schodowski and his wife, Sharon, John Schodowski and his wife, Lorrie, Victoria Schodowski, Michael Schodowski and his wife, Courtney, and Larry Schodowski and his wife, Melissa. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Shannon (Dave), Sean, Kendal, Randy (Marie), Devin, Crystal (Chris), William, Adam, and Rachel; and his eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Stanley Schodowski and his wife, Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 9:15 a.m. until his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Rd., Morrisville, PA 19067. His interment with Military Funeral Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
