article_d5f4843b-e966-546b-a7bf-1404e7d0c7f8Following a brief illness, Mary Cadden O’Toole, of Lower Makefield Township, Pa., died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, surrounded by loving family and friends. Mary was 89. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin O’Toole, in 1970.

A native of Scranton, Pa., and the eldest of seven children, Mary was the daughter of Mary McDonough Cadden and Michael Cadden.

Upon graduation from Scranton Technical High School, she began her career with Bell Telephone in Scranton. She and her husband later relocated to Levittown, Pa., and thereafter raised their family in Lower Makefield Township.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Yardley, and was a very active member of various clubs, including Lower Makefield Seniors and Red Hat Society.

Prior to her retirement, she was a supervisor for the State of New Jersey, Bureau of Housing Inspection.

Mary is survived by four children, Maureen O’Toole Steinetz and her husband, William, Nashua, N.H.; Mark, Emmaus, Pa.; Michael, Seattle, Wash.; and Martin, Doylestown, Pa.; and will be dearly missed as well by grandchildren, Martin, Elizabeth, Thomas, Sean, Andrew, Lauren, Lindsey and Eric. She is also survived by brother, Eugene Cadden and his wife, Alice; sister-in-law, Ann Cadden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Michael, James, Joseph and William.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Scranton, where friends may call from 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
